• The jobs boom in the US slowed last month but the unemployment rate remained low, as the world's largest economy remained resilient in the face of sharply higher borrowing costs.

• An election in a small Wisconsin town came down to a literal roll of the dice. After Rob Zoschke and Nate Bell received 256 votes each to be the Sister Bay Village Board president, the race went to a tiebreaker.

• The executive director for a Northern California police union who was charged with attempting to illegally import synthetic opioids from India and other countries has been fired from her job, officials said Friday.

• A U.S. court ordered a two-week pause on the extradition of Peru's former President Alejandro Toledo, wanted in his home country on charges of taking millions of dollars in bribes as part of a continent-spanning corruption case.

• The Defense Department and the Justice Department are reviewing a handful of documents that were released on several social media sites and appear to detail U.S. and NATO aid to Ukraine, but may have been altered or used as part of a misinformation campaign.

• Twenty-seven people are dead or missing after two migrant boats sank off the east coast of Tunisia. The first boat left Tunisia for Italy on Friday, with 37 on board. Twenty are missing while 17 have been rescued. Four bodies were recovered from a beach after a second boat sank. Thirty-six people who were on the second boat were rescued and three are missing.

• Israel struck multiple military targets in Syria after rockets were fired into territory it controls overnight, the Israeli military has said. Israeli artillery and drones were used to hit a Syrian army compound and rocket launchers after six rockets were fired from Syria at the Golan Heights. Officials said three rockets had entered Israeli territory. Two hit open ground and a third was intercepted. On Facebook, the Syrian defence ministry confirmed the Israeli attacks.
