• The New York Times has lost its blue tick on Twitter after it said it would not pay to remain verified. Twitter has started removing verification badges from accounts which already had a blue tick, after announcing they would be part of a paid subscription from 1 April.

• Federal aid has been made available to people in the tornado-ravaged state of Arkansas, the White House has said. The state was one of several across the United States' South and Midwest which suffered the effects of a violent storm system over the weekend.

• Two crew members were killed when a medical helicopter crashed in Shelby County, Alabama, authorities said. The Life Saver helicopter had been called to transport a hiker who had been experiencing chest pains and breathing problems, Shelby County Sheriff's Office chief deputy Clay Hammac said

• The internet went out for tens of thousands of customers after two people allegedly cut fiber optic lines in Connecticut, police said Sunday. Officers in Norwalk arrested Jillian Nicole Persons, 30, and Austin Keith Geddings, 26, on Saturday in connection with the March 24 outage.

• The U.S. and Mexico announced a deal to resolve a U.S. labor complaint at VU Manufacturing in northern Mexico that requires the auto parts plant to let workers freely choose their union in line with a trade pact aimed at improving labor rights.

• Parisians have voted to ban rental electric scooters in their city, dealing a blow to scooter operators and a triumph for road safety campaigners. Almost 90% of votes cast on Sunday favoured a ban the battery-powered devices, official results showed. But under 8% of those eligible turned out to vote. The referendum was called in response to a rising number of people being injured and killed on e-scooters in the French capital.

• US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged the release of a detained Wall Street Journal reporter in a rare phone call with his Russian counterpart. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov responded by saying that the US should not try to "make a fuss" or politicise the arrest. Evan Gershkovich was arrested on accusations of spying. The Wall Street Journal has vehemently denied the espionage charge.

The March jobs report is expected to show 238,000 nonfarm payroll jobs were added to the U.S. economy last month with the unemployment rate set to hold steady at 3.6%, according to data from Trading Economics. In February, the U.S. economy added 311,000 new jobs while the unemployment rate ticked higher as participation increased.
