• A federal judge in Texas who previously ruled to dismantle the Affordable Care Act struck down a narrower but key part of the nation's health law Thursday that requires most insurers to cover preventive services that include screenings for cancer, diabetes and mental health.

• FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried pleaded not guilty to new federal charges alleging that he bribed a Chinese government official and violated campaign finance laws. Federal prosecutors charged Bankman-Fried with directing $40 million in bribes to one or more Chinese officials in hopes of unfreezing assets relating to his cryptocurrency business.

• Scientists say your idea of how the T. rex looked is probably wrong. A new study says the T. rex family looked more like lizards, with scaly lips covering and sealing their mouths when closed.

• Apple’s widely anticipated mixed-reality headset may not be ready in time for the company’s June WWDC event, said analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo said a softening economic environment and other factors have caused the company to worry about muted reception to the reportedly multithousand-dollar product.

An experienced Russia reporter, he was working in the city of Yekaterinburg at the time of his detention. The White House has condemned his detention "in the strongest terms".

• Three members of a religious and cultural society in Bahrain that advocates open discussion of Islamic issues have been given jail terms. They were prosecuted under a law that criminalises "ridicule" of any of Bahrain's recognised religious texts, which include the Quran and the Bible. Human rights groups say the men were persecuted for expressing their right to free speech and belief.
